Book: Make It So

Finally Rosenfeld Media published the book I was waiting for since a long time: “Make It So. Interaction Design Lessons from Science Fiction” inspires with sci-fy interfaces from famous Science Fiction movies like “Brazil”, “Star Trek”, “Alien”, “The Matrix”, “Star Wars”,” Avatar”, “Men In Black”, “Iron Man”, and many more. Oh and yes of course including “Minority Report”.

The authors Nathan Shedroff and Christopher Noessel wrote this book for interface designers interested in learning best practices from sci-fi, understanding sci-fi’s role in design. Sounds great, doesn’t it? The book analyses the different forms of interfaces like mechanical controls, visual interfaces, volumetric projections, gestural interfaces, sonic interfaces, brain interfaces, augmented environments, anthropomorphic interfaces to deduce opportunities, contradictions and lessons learned for each interface type.
